Get your folding chair and your spot in the shade – it’s time for the Pinckney Memorial Day Parade! I know my daughter is in the marching band, but that’s not why I go (well, it’s a bit of the reason I go.) I LOVE downtown Pinckney and especially when it’s packed with people enjoying their holiday and the prospect of a good hometown parade.
There are a couple of highlights for me during the parade and the first is the Pinckney High School Marching Band. They are so good and I just love how downright professional they all look and sound marching together. It’s awesome. Am I the only one who gets choked up when they play the Pinckney Fight Song?
My second favorite thing is actually after the parade is over. In the middle of the park, in front of the gazebo, there is a dedication to fallen soldiers. Last year they did the 21 gun salute and it was so moving. I loved it.
Be sure to come early to get a good spot and bring some cash to buy a hot dog or ice cream cone while you’re there!
